God does not expect our perfection.

God loves us with our failures, our foolishness, even with our anger.

Don’t be afraid of arguing with God. Such holy activity allows us to be fully honest. This is the key to spiritual maturity: Honesty. It will shock others, of course, just as Job shocked his pious friends, but it is essential for spiritual growth.

Wrestle with God over what you believe. Don’t allow others to tell you what you must accept. Struggle with God over it and discover what you really believe.

Nothing has so strengthened my own faith as this important concept: God will not abandon us...not even when we reject all that we have been taught as true and necessary.

Hang in there. Do what Jacob did. Fight all night long if you have to because it is a fight for your soul. It is a struggle of spirit that will determine the truth. It takes courage. It takes honesty and it takes perseverance but it is a fight worth fighting because it results in our realizing who we really are.
