I believe in the Second Coming of Christ but I find those elaborate schemes worked out by some to be ludicrous. My understanding of the Second Coming does not involve some cosmic elevator that drops down and picks up the faithful few. My conception is based on a belief in infinite second comings, in Christ appearing in a myriad of ways to bring the message of grace to a hurting world.

What we do when we employ rigid standards and inflexible rules to our Christian journey is to try and put God into a box and the Bible says that God won’t stand for it.

Love cannot be just codified, systematized, bureaucratized and institutionalized. All of those can be good and even helpful but only when it is recognized that love can never be contained.

It is the very nature of love to be dynamic and ever changing. Surely it is the same with our God, the source of all love.
